sem design was founded in 2011 with the belief that design is universal and should draw inspiration from all disciplines. The studio is underpinned by the notion that the future of design and production is digital, informed with a craft based understanding of materials.
sem design was founded in Melbourne by Sam Johnston. Trained as a landscape architect, Sam has worked in the design industry for over 15 years, in Melbourne, Brisbane, New York and London. Sam’s research and teaching experience includes various design studios, lectures and exhibitions, including at the Bauhaus Kolleg, Germany, Kingston University, London and RMIT, Melbourne.
